Year II: Advanced Leadership Theory and Skills

“Developing a Personal Leadership Vision”
In the second year of study, students will travel a unique region of the country, to explore the “personal geography” of leadership – a person’s individual vision and unique direction. The setting is Lama Foundation, one of the most spectacular mountain sanctuaries in North America. Casting off most of our modern technological supports, students and faculty will experience human community in the tradition of the Pueblo Indian world view. They will be guided by a renowned native elder and discover the self-sufficiency that comes from a close relationship with the natural world. The joy of service to others will be experienced in an entirely new way, especially during the culminating experience of the hike up Flag Mountain. Students will also understand how threats to diversity are often the root cause of ecological and cultural crises. Leader Learning plans (LLP’s) for the coming year will reflect and refine new skills and a new vision to sustain students’ growing global perspective. An essential question of Year II: “What internal visions of myself guide my emerging purpose and my leadership?”
